New BSA YPT

As many of you may already know the Boy Scouts of America has a new online YPT class. Every registered Scouter must complete the new YPT by October 1, 2018. As of May 1 the State of Texas now accepts this training as Face 2 Face YPT for long term Texas camps. The council and district will continue to offer the new (approved) in person Face to Face course for those who prefer learning with others and having the opportunity to ask questions. The next district in-person training is Sat., Sept. 22 from 1 pm to 2:30 pm at Super Training Day - go to the training page for more info.

If you are going to a Long Term camp (Webelos Residency, Summer Camp, Cub Day Camp), and have Texas Face to 2 that will not expire prior to the end of the camp, you can use it to meet the Texas YPT rules. If it will expire before the end of the camp, you will need to take the new online course from the BSA to meet this requirement. Be aware that at Cub Camp, there will be NO way to do this at camp. It must be done prior to you coming to camp or you will be sent away to take the class and come back.

The new online YPT is found in the same place as the old one - my.scouting.org, and now consists of 4 seperate segments all of which must be completed in order to receive credit for the class. When looking at your training history you will now see the seperate classes along with the Y01 completion. If you don't see the seperate classes, you haven't taken the new YPT yet.
